    -They effect your everyday life by being a deciding factor in whether or not you can acquire a job, and get promotions and advance further in the workplace later down the road.

    -It is vital to communicate visually so that we can break through language barriers and reach various audiences, no matter where they live or what languages they might speak.
4. What are the elements of design and how are they incorporated in to a design?
    -Elements of design are line, shape, value, texture and color. Ever aspect of the artwork revolves around these elements and when completely balanced, the work is a success.
5. What is a vector-based design and how is it created? 
    -A vector based design is a design that uses shapes and lines to provide for outstanding quality. Vector based designs are created in Adobe Illustrator.
6. How is color used effectively in a graphic design?
    -Color impacts how the viewer interprets the design. Certain colors cause different emotions, such as warm colors, cool colors, and black and white. Its used effectively when color exhibits the message the designer wants to portray.
7. What is a raster-based image and how is it created?
    -Raster-based images are made of pixels and are created through programs like Adobe Photoshop. It is effective to use pixels instead of vector maps when working with different designs and that will vary per client.
8. How does the manipulation of size and resolution effect digital images?
    -The higher the resolution, the better the quality. On the computer, a minimum of 72 res is needed, but to print, a minimum of 300 res is needed. Size is a huge factor when analyzing the purpose of a design. The larger the design, the more details it might need to display and the resolution needs to be higher as well.

    -The principles of design are used to arrange all of the structural elements in a design and they are repetition, proportion/scale, balance, emphasis, unity/variety, figure/ground, rhythm, and contrast.
10. What is the function of type within a design?
    -To explain certain things to the reader, or make the design easier to navigate through.
11. How do designers use a page layout program?

    -They use page layout programs to help and visualize how their design will look.
12. What steps does a designer take to design a page layout from concept to final product?

    -They must follow the steps of the Creative Process which are to research, to brainstorm, to sketch, to execute, and then to accept critique.
13. What are the key elements in the history of visual communication? How do these developments shape our industry?
   
-Key elements that have helped to shape and mold modern-day visual communications include the invention of various alphabets, the invention of the computer, and the invention of cameras.
14. What careers are available within the field of graphic design? What professional organizations are associated with the industry?

    -There is a very large abundance of careers that are available that have to do with graphic design. One could become a cartoon artist, a web designer, an illustrator for books, a computer animator, and there are several other options as well.
15. What is a logotype and how is it created? 
    -A logotype is an icon that represents a company or organization that combines the right amount of simplicity, along with recognition to create a timeless representation of said group.
